On Friday, June 1st, at 9:30 a.m., at Main Street Community Center, Gabriele Steinhauf, SIUE non-credit German language instructor, will discuss "The Music of Germany: Past and Present." Germany's reputation as a key musical nation originated with the classical music of such composers as Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms, to name but a few. But Germany is noted for other forms of music, too, from the operas of Wagner to the music of the beer halls and the cabarets, from swing to rock to hip hop and the electronic music of today. This presentation, offering brief musical selections, will highlight various forms of German music from yesteryear to today.
This event. co-sponsored by MSCC and SIUE Office of Educational Outreach, is free. Refreshments will be served.
